Acacia is a genus of shrubs and trees belonging to the subfamily Mimosoideae of the family Fabaceae.

TheRed Thorn Treegrows up to14 metres. It is a very hardy tree and has grey bark. An extremely hardy drought resistant Acacia it is grown extensively in Zimbabwe, the Northern parts of South Africa as well as in some parts of KZN. It does verywell without tending and thrives in the dryer lowveld areas. It makes a very good bonsai specimen andisquick growing.
