Brassica oleracea var. sabellica

USDA organic. Early to mature heirloom with blue green leaves that have curly edges. This variety is shorter than other kales and does well in both containers or beds. Mature plants handle frost well for extended harvesting.

Gardener’s Notes: In early spring, sow directly in the garden in well worked, fertile soil. Space seeds 2 in. apart and 1/2 inch deep, with rows 18 in. apart. Keep soil evenly moist. When seedlings are 2-3 inches tall, thin to 1ft. apart so plants have room to grow and mature. Mulch well to retain moisture. When plants have 6 to 8 leaves, begin harvesting outer leaves at plant base. Sow again in late summer for another cold-hardy, tender-sweet crop.
