Brassica rapa var.parachinensis

Chinese green used in stir fries, soups and salads. Thick shiny leaves on flowering stalks with buds similar to Italian rapini. Sow in early summer. Excellent flavour, with mild mustard pungency.

How to Grow

Sow seed about two weeks before last frost date. Seed can also be sown from mid to late August and to some growers this is the best time to sow seed for this green. Two or three separate sowings can be made at that time in 5 day intervals for late September to early October harvest. Sow seed 6 mm (1/4″) deep and 5 cm (2″) apart in rows spaced 60 cm (24″) apart. Thin plants to 20 cm (8″) apart in the row.
