Forono Beet. Produces smooth, dark red, 16cm (6.5in) long, cylindrical beets. The sweet tasting roots are excellent keepers and are perfect for slicing due to their uniform diameter and length. Cylindra cooks well and is best used when young, however, a pleasant surprise awaits as the roots still keep much of their sweet, tender flavour when larger!

Keep root crownshilled with soil for best appearance.

Sow in early spring, as soon as you can work the soil, into warm, well-drained soil, 13mm (1/2″) deep. 2.5cm (1″) apart. When plants are 5-7.5cm (2-3″) tall, thin to 10-15cm (4-6″) apart. Beet greens are ready to harvest in approx. 35 days. Water thoroughly, once a week, may require feeding every 3 weeks.
