A silvery blue fine-textured selection of this clumping native grass, from the north coast of California introduced by California Flora Nursery. To 6 inches tall slowly spreading by creeping rhizomes forming ever-blue drifts, great in meadow plantings or as a small scale groundcover. Late spring to summer flowers rise 8 to 10 inches above the foliage. Wonderful under shrubs like manzanitas. Full sun to light shade with afternoon shade in hot inland sites. Drought tolerant, but best appearance with occasional summer water where dry. for all but the heaviest soils. Deer resistant, USDA zone 5
