Found in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, this handsome, 2-3 ft Mediterranean native grass is becoming ever more popular for creating natural dry meadows or adding grass accents to the dry garden. Growing in clumps to 24-36″ tall and wide, the fountain-like sprays of light green leaves create a shimmering presence. Easy in the garden, tolerating most soils with good drainage and remaining sturdy throughout the year, with just a little spring raking to tidy up. Drought tolerant but very occasional summer water improves appearance. Evergreen in USDA zone 8a and root hardy to 0F, zone 7.
